View Full Version : Photoshop CS2, Yes this involves hardware!!
Alright heres the problem. I seem to have trouble running Photoshop CS2 on my PC. Everytime I try to open a document or create a new document in photoshop, photoshop freezes. I've installed Photoshop on my laptop and it works just fine, it opens documents and creates new ones without freezing. I've tried quite a few torrents already and all of them seem to have the same problem, and I made sure it was updated to the newest version. I haven't bothered trying older versions of photoshop though.
I'm wondering if it might have something to do with my RAM. I'm not the biggest hardware expert but the program is accessing the RAM when it's creating or opening a new document isn't it? If I'm wrong feel free to tell me.
My computer spec's are
AMD 3700
1GB RAM
Radeon x850 PCIx
If you need me to go into more detail about the hardware on the PC let me know.
Thanks in Advance.
No clue why it would be doing that. I run CS2 on my comp perfectly fine and your comp is better than mine.
It's really pissing me off, I just got this thing new over the summer. Ordered the parts off new egg and pieced it together at work. Everything else runs perfectly fine on my computer.
I suggest using some of these

How about you take those and stick them in your ass like your daddy used to do to you.
Helpful posts please.
i doubt you'll get a useful post after that one, almost physically impossible

More useless posting? Why couldn't you have been one of those kids that plays with a toaster in the bath tub?
If you're not going to post anything helpful go waste time somewhere else.

Here is a useful answer (hopefully).
It is probably a memory thing. Photoshop requires a lot of memory. Make sure your scratch disk is based off your primary drive. If this doesn't work, post something, thanks!
Try downloading the 9.0.1 patch for CS2. It does solve some bugs with freezing;
http://www.softwarepatch.com/graphics/photoshop-cs2.html (You can also have a look around for 9.0.2 if you want).
You can actually also have problems with Pirated versions of Photoshop when the Exec is cracked or a fake key is used. If you cannot find any other solutions this could be your problem.

if the patch doesnt work just try completely uninstalling it, turn your computer off, turn it back on than install it again..
its possible it corrupted a file when installing
or an older version on photoshop could be fucking it up a bit
What OS are you running, in case you use Xp without sp2 that could be the reason for the major fuckup. I got my new 6000+ x2 a coupple of days ago and installed the 64bit version of Xp and the 64bit version of freeBSD.
While gimp worked fine on the unix platform photoshop suffered from some bugs and a little lag on the 64bit version of XP (where I use the photostore). So if you running the 64bit version that can be the problem and if you can't solve it don't cry. Download the free (or legal) gimp instead it open source and im some ways even better than photoshop.
You should always take the chance when you can advertise open source software.
