Hi,
I recently installed a 6600 nvidia Geforce 256 mb Agp card in my system. I found that after switching on and using my system for a while, I get a blue screen with the following contents
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
driver_irql_not_less_or_equal.
smwdm.sys beginning dump of physical memory
[x000900] <- something of that sort
dumping physical memory to disk [some increasing numbers]
Also there appears a number after the dumping physical memory to disk which increases every few seconds.
The computer does not automatically switch off as well.
What could be the problem?
I have the latest drivers for nvidia.
My config:
PIV 3 Ghz HT
1.5 Gb RAM
80 GB ATA Seagate HDD
1 DVD Writer and 1 DVD reader
400W SMPS
Usual samsung 15" CRT monitor
I run win xp only as an OS
6600's temperature is around 60 degree celsius usually. The blue screen appears when the system has been left switched on for some time.
There was nothing I did at the time the screen appeared.
What could be the problems?
Please do help me with this..
I'll be really thankful

I doubt that flashing the MB Bios will do anything to be honest.

This error happens when the Interrupt request handler comes across a memory error in the driver. You didn't paste the full code so I can't tell if it's a read or write error but it isnt very important anyway.

High chance is that you have defective RAM which is being used in your drivers I/O handler. Either that or it's a driver issue with your graphics card.

Download and run http://www.memtest.org/ , see if there are any results.

I just sent in my 7900GT after getting RMA. I really hope it's not my RAM, I've already had that replaced once. I got weird coloured pixels in random places on my screen sometimes, even in bios. And I'd get weird texture bugs in games too, sometimes certain parts of the screen flashed, or textures would extend into infinity.

Same problem with my 7900gt but it turned out to be a cooling problem.

Was it a faulty fan, or did it just need a better one to stop it from overheating?

Ah ok. That's not too bad, I've been thinking about replacing the one on it anyway since it's so loud. Dunno why the designers decided that it needed the smallest possible fan in production on it.

Well they've replaced it now, and it works perfectly.
