I'm trying to get around to using my laptop (hp pavilion zv6000) as a half assed entertainment center. I want to hook it up to my TV and watch a few .avi's I've downloaded.

I have a small problem, the laptop won't detect the TV when it's connected. I'm using an S-Video adapter and converting it into a yellow composite cable; the cable and adapter work just fine on my PC and the TV is auto detected. Even if I force detect the TV on my laptop nothing happens. I'm using the latest omega radeon drivers on my laptop. Any idea's would be great.

Thanks.

i don't want to say the stupit thing here, i take it u cant just hook the s-video direct?

i have a similar set up

....

on a similar note my tv can split screen between av and tv(coax and scart s-video)

i was thinkin about getting a scart to coax so i could run to x-box's on the one tv 8player halo on one tv....

think it wuld work? soz about the drail ...try a network connection to your pc maybe? and watch the .avi's accross the network...

and if you want to use the laptop as a controll, get vnc and use it to vnc the pc....or get one if the infer-red drives

i dont know what your budget is...
