View Full Version : 1300€ PC
Hiho,
i need a new PC for Gaming and now i need some assistance...
I have 1300€ (good old europe money)
something like this:
Core 2 Quad Q6600
Asus Striker Extreme
Geforce 8800 GTS 1x (maybe later a second one)
RAM Kingston HyperX 2GB DDR2-800
Power Supply 600W
Any other suggestions?!
mfg
whats that in proper money?
i know my new one cost me about £1500 but that was 6+ months ago its only a core 2 duo (quad core kinda pointless atm)
909.045 British Pounds
1500 British Pounds = 2145.11 Euros (too mouch for me ;) )
So u think that a quad core is pointless atm, why?
there's only 1 game that supports more than 1 core properly (episode 2) nothing else really uses it properly atm so there's no realistic gaming advantage for quad over dual core atm
how about this
Ok but if i pay 220€ for a Quad and 204€ for a Core Duo....
where did you found this offer?
And the power supply is UK?!
mfg
yeah thats all off a UK supply site i suggest you talk to fridge though as he works for litec.de iirc

a quick config I just clicked together (yes, work is extremely boring today)
go with a 680i motherboard not a 650i gives you a little more future proofing for future if you want to upgrade.
also crap ram :) use corsair XMMS it has EPP so will automatically reclock its self to the MB/Proc all good stuff
personal preference I prefer enermax PSU's they're 100% rock solid.
for the gfx card it may be worth considering the new 8800GT version using teh G92 chipset it matches the gts for performance and at a considerably lower price rate though if you can squeeze the extra the gtx is still superior in every way

I forgot to mention that this config is just an example you don't need to spend more than 1k € for a good PC, nothing more nothing less :)
Regarding the PSU:
I think enermax is too expensive. I got a 420W PS from coolermaster in both of my pcs. Very silent, enough power for my needs at a relatively cheap price.
see when i built my new pc i went with a coolmaster psu it popped within 3 days, so i swapped it for a silverstone one read good reviews on them it popped within 2 weeks. got an enermax modular one and its been up and running 24/7 for 6 months now without a blink.
so as i say personal preference :)
the setup i listed above is also below 1k euro's too though :)

As you know i work at a Hardware store, i might give you a special price if you order here :) Just gimme a call on Skype (fridgelitec) or MSN (fridgelitec@hotmail.com)
Some input from me:
DO NOT USE ASUS !!!!! Get a fucking Gigabyte Motehrboard, theyre the best on the market right now and ASUS support blows balls, seriously
the 8800GTS is good, but you can also wait for a 8800GT which is cheaper and only slight below the 8800GTS (lets wait for some tests when theyre out, we will get them on friday)
If you want a proper gaming CPU, use a Core2Duo E6850 as most games wont supply Quadcores. You only need the Quadcore for raw CPU power like when rendering Videos or something, or only play Crysis.
RAM: Kingston is Good, but you can also use Corsair, with better Latencys
PSU: make sure its a good brand, not some no-name Shit
If you buy at my Shop:
Q6600
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 Rev 2.0
2Gb Corsair XMS2 4-4-4-12
XFX Geforce 8800 GTS 500M
Tagan 600W 2-Force II PSU
costs you 856 Euros
see how much you can save there, better talk to me first ;)
see fridge just copies and pastes what i said above :)
naughty fridge
I didnt even read what you wrote :P
k i send you a message via skype...or msn...what ever
Do that :) you wont regret it :P
600W PSU may not be sufficient if you are planning an SLI setup later
