Its official! Markov on Emerald are going to merge at May 20, 2008.
...May 20, May 20... doesn't that ring a bell? Oh yeah! What a coincidence! It's also the official Age of Conan release Date!
Countless discussions took place in the past about the pros and cons of a servermerge without that the community would have come to a common agreement. While one might argue, the increase of the population will lead to more fun and better fights the other will deny that by pointing out the ping/warping problems. SOE also still did not solve the problem with all the hackers that are swarming the servers as of lately. Without any doubt this problem is going to get worse with both the hackers from Emmy and Markov combined - for a hacker that can kill anyone in a base's SOI it really makes no difference if there are 50 or 100 targets.
From what it looks like the TR on the new server will be the ones who benefit the most from the merger. With Psychedelic Clown Posse, Metal Milita, Knights of the old Republic and Hells Rangers they will now field 4 more or less organized and active Veteran-Outfits while the other empires hardly have any at all - NC and VS will be facing quite a challenge keeping their continents.
Time will tell if SOE's desperate measures will help the cause or make everything just worse, like usual...
