Hey,

Was wondering if there was already an official releasedate for this game? If so, can someone tell me what that'd be? If not, any estimations or rumours etc?

Is FA seriously gonna play this game? As in, will someone take the effort to open a division, sort the subforum and recruitment. Basicly the same as Avie did for AoC ... but the assuming pple will acually play the game :)

Looking forward to it. If FA isn't starting a decent division in WAR, then I'll join some other guild ofcourse.

Thanks for volunteering Kj =)

As far as I've heard Uriel and Nite are stirring it up and release is september-ish?

Yeah it's release is posted as fall 2008 at the moment. I would run a division if there is a large enough player base interested in playing. Think nite just wants to play as a spod, the administration side of things isn't really her cup of tea at the moment.

Fall mmm ... hopefully they manage to stick to their announcements :)

Well, you can count on me Uriel. But just as a player, I have no time to dedicate myself more atm.

If you consider running a division, know that you'll need to create an interest for FA and potential new players to consider playing this game with us. And then ofcourse hope for the best that the pple that signed up actually like the game and keep playing it :)

Perhaps ask Hinch to sort out a subforum and start a small thread as Avie did for AoC, asking who'd be interested in playing WAR :)

I hope some of the FA WoW (horde) will play this game, feels good to have the old core together again (which was the plan with AoC but it didn't last).

AOC's release was pushed forward for finicial reasons. Not wanting to have the competition of both WOW:WOTLK and WAR at release. Hence the incomplete game and the problems that followed including very buggy play and no real end game at 80.

This subform was created for the exact reason of finding out if there was an interest in playing WAR.

As for pushing the game and whether people will signup and not enjoy the game. I'd rather people had a look at the WAR website and signed up for the beta to get to play it during the open beta. If people fancy playing it (Personally i think it looks like it'll be a giggle) then i'm happy to put together a guild ect ect. If people aren't interested more power to them too. Not all games appeal to all sorts of people.

If people are interested in playing i'll probably no life it for the first couple of weeks to cap out my character and establish the guild on the server.

I signed up for the beta, still no idea of the system requirements tho =/

They said in one of the recent production interviews that the function of the game was all completed and all they where doing now is polishing and optimizing. Hence why they haven't released system specs yet.

So they're dropping quite a bit of content to make the release?

As long as whats in actually works i'll be happy. Although it is rather a disappointing annoucement. Probably a backlash from the general MMorpg's community about AOC being released incomplete. Just hope they don't cut any end game content as that's pretty much the heart and soul of any mmorpg. Don't really see the capital cities being an issue but missing classes might piss off some people if there a class they want to play.

I see how all this is gonna end up and so be it.
If we don't manage to get a decent enough guild together I know where I am going :p

Signed up for BETA. Whether or not i'll play it remains to be seen.

Also not overly impressed that major parts of the game are being cut...

Having been a pen'n'paper RPG DM for Warhammer for many years, and therefore a lore nazi, I'll not be playing this game, since they're really going out of their way to mutilate the lore. I understand that to make an MMO, you're going to have to make some serious compromises to make the system work, and accessible to players, but well, that's just my choice, and my loss then, I guess. :)

Also signed up for the beta a week or 2 ago.

Slim chances that you'll get in. Maybe if you go to a Games Day or similar event you'll have a better chance, but it's still slim. They said at some point that they have a ranking system on who gets into the beta :)

The only certain way to get in at this point is to buy the CE if there still are any left and get into the Open beta

Uriel

Got CE and can probably answer any questions people have as i know people with closed beta access.

Here's a question, is the game as broken as people say it is - what with all the content they have left out?

What are the classes like that they have used?

Tbh, the fact they have limited the class choice really doesn't impress me, and the fact that they appear to be the tank classes kind of annoys me more.

Vanayad

The game is not broken. They removed the classes/cities because they would not have had time to balance all of them properly and make them cool / polished too.
You still have 10 classes to choose from/side ...is that limiting ? I think not.

Uriel

The only thing that i would say is currently "broken" is the dark elf PQ's. Since having no tank class it's very hard to take on effectively an elite mob at the end of them. Although they've said there going to re-balance the PQ's in the dark elf beginning area to take this into account. The start game (haven't had chance to play a high level char) is similar to vanilla wow. GCD and all.

The removal of the cities isn't a huge problem unless your really into your lore. WOTLK will have more polish than this when they are released. But i just don't have the mind set for grinding anymore so a pvp orientated end game appeals to me a lot more.

This is a lot more polished and fluid than AOC release, 2 months before release. So if they put in the work it should be good come release.

I have played the closed beta for 2 days. And from what i can say the game looks ugly (for those who are fans, sorry but i'm serious). The gfx of world and chars is very poor and the whole way to lvl up felt like wow. In addition that using your skills and the movement weren't even as close as smooth. I've lost interest very fast. We'll see what they'll do in the last months of developement.

Vanayad
23-07-2008, 20:36
they said they were not using the best gfx options, they wanted to test gameplay not graphics.

I'm kinda sad they removed the other cities, but as they said, better to have them in an expansion done properly than to release them prematurely like they did with AoC.

And when did you play those 2 days of beta ?

Vanayad

Update: Release date is 23rd of September, date is not 100% definite, but it's on the EA site.

Kjeldoran

So if the PQ's for Dark elves are broken ... should I bother playing a darkelf (which is needed to be a sorceress)?

Vanayad
28-07-2008, 13:37
don't worry, the PQ's are getting fixed soon. Most likely in beta patch 3.3 (currently it's 3.2 and in the notes didn't appear anything about that as of what I've seen). They said they are going to give certain abilities such as tanking ones to other classes from the respective race. Most likely the DoK will be made able to tank all the PQ's

Edit:

Btw, if you want to make a DElf and still leave your zone, then you can just go to the nearest T1 town you can _instantly_ teleport yourself to another T1 town from the Chaos and Orc Zone.

I have been signed up for beta for approximately a year now, but no reply, I am still thinking about buying the game in September though. If you get a FA guild running I will probably join if its ok with you guys.
