View Full Version : The Official Pre-WOTLK levelling with old FA-Members Extravaganza thread
The plan is to gather a group of old-FA members to quest/run instances before the expansion hits, mainly on Wednesday evenings & Sundays.
A few old FA players have started levelling new characters in order to experience the "vanilla wow" content once more.
We intend on spamming ALL old instances, that includes places such as Dead Mines, Gnomeragan, Black Rock Spire (and even Stockades if we can get to them! lol)
So, post here the name of your char, and level, so that we can see about forming parties to tackle this.

My friend that bought my account quit playing so I could probably get my old acc back (again yes I know) and join in with a level 8 rogue if that's ok?
Yep, the more the merrier.
If we get enough, we can see about sorting 2 groups on our instance run nights. Seems we have enough classes to heal and tank, so it would be just down to dps.
Only issues I see would be on more AoE orientated instances (ie BRD) where we may struggle.

FA is still there, all be it inactive.
I doubt it will be created again on the same lines as before. We may resurrect it for staying in touch and having a laugh in 5man/10man instances. Depends if Wotlk appeals to me, and whether I choose to level my Druid once more.
On a personal level, I can't afford to dedicate 4hrs+ a night to raiding anymore.

I see. Thought it did disband. I might play wow again at WoTLK, dunno yet since it doesn`t look like much promising, kinda the same as TBC.
If we were to raid again, assuming people want to/play the expansion, then I'd try and get it sorted for casually doing the raid content in the 10-man forms a few times a week.
Wrong thread...but i'd be up for some casual KZ on the odd occassion.

Tonight sees our first grouping for RFC & most likely DM. Try to be around from about 7pm GT.
To get to DM, we will need a group to work their way there with a lvl 70 to kill off any alliance/mobs that aggro, then the group can summon the last remaining member.
Hopefully we will have enough.
EDIT - RFC/DM (for those slacking) & WC will most likely be run this Sunday, with the possibility of BFD/SFK the same day if people have what they need from the 3 earlier instances

Sitting at lvl 14 with my Paladin currently, I can play again from tomorrow. I'll see what progress you've made and level myself accordingly for Sunday's instances :)
I've got my first taunt-like ability also, so I should be able to fill the role of either a healer or a tank, if needed. Although I'd prefer healing ;)

What's the plan for Sunday? Going back to Deadmines or we just going to do WC?

Do DM for people who need it still, and do WC a few times to get a few clears going there.
WC has great stuff for leather-wearing folks like avoch or me :]

Memotoself is lvl 12 shaman...posted that before ;-) Will be online tonight and this weekend plenty to level him up to 19 and get the WC prequests done. And OMG...raiding as a healer is soo much more fun than dps-ing. Whoever thougth that a 1550+heal priest could be the top healer on a anetheron attempt (16% wipe first try) without runnin OOM...
Consistencie is lvl 18 now, all pre-quests done.
I'll definately not be online today, unsure about tomorrow. Sunday i'll be in for the fun for sure.

Polyfromafar is kinda active, just waiting for everyone to level up to it then I will keep the warrior and mage on the right levels so I can switch between whatevers needed.
Multiple WC runs tomorrow, looking to start quite early, and then perhaps move onto SFK later on in the day.
a bit slack on leveling, but 16 now close to 17 with at least 5 quests for WC ready to start and the glowing shard from that escort already done...

My rogue named Gasrane is level 10 atm and I'm about to beging project aoe leveling :D, so it won't be long untill I've caught up with u gusy.
3 of us ended up going WC at 4pm GT on Sunday, couldn't wait around all day.
Going again around 8pm GT, hopefully we'll have a full ex-fa group.
CTP ninja'd my Leggings of the Vang ;-) and the Stinging Viper has yet to drop at all, but it was good fun, no deaths.

Promote some of our characters to other ranks apart from INACTIVE please.
I think we need to step up the instance runs Avie. Waiting 3-4 days to run an instance is a long time, especially when we want to see places like Strat/Scholo/DM etc before WotLK.
I say we aim to run 3-4 instances a week from now on:
Mon
Wed
Sat (daytime)
Sun (daytime/evening)
Most likely I wont be available on any other days than Wed & Sun. Try to stay on par with the level though.
PS: The Leggings of the FAnG feel good!

Lol, you played a healer (shaman), tank (druid) and dps (mage) .... now you have an all-in-one solution aka the loladin :D

I carry on tons and tons of roles during raids, m8:
- DPS'ing
- Tanking (atleast for 2 seconds)
- Making buscuits
- Making the turtle a more famous animal
- Making sure healers are at their best by keeping them busy
- Safeguarding everyone else from taking aggro by making sure nobody can beat you at it
- Being the first to die "for the team"
- Buffing
- ...

Instance runs tonight lads
SFK (quickly), BFD (twice or more) & perhaps RFK if we have time.
Was glad to run with you, goes so much easier without the random tanks...SFK was fast and BFD surprisingly easy, did they nerf the instances?
Anyway, we can park in SM soon than, i am going to respec Tiger to dps since Sib is now full healing which makes making money hard. I can boost the lot of us.
The point is to not do boosts, otherwise we could have easily boosted each other from the start ;)
Well, i'm offering to boost both you and Vir through WC (and SFK if you need it) as the level gap is starting to show.
I'm currently lvl 27 1/3, thats through doing instances/dungeon quests/paladin quests.
In response to Tiger. Yes it was easy, they have nerfed each instance slightly so that people levelling don't have a hard time (seeing as finding a group can be bad enough). We'll see what happens in SM if I spec Protadin!
Vir, was just thinking about SM being the never ending grind instance from 28 --> 38. Somewhere in those 10 levels a boost might be helpful. Not proposing to boost beyond SM, cause than instances will be fun again. Cant wait till we get to the BRD bit.
We still have Gnomeragan/Razorfen Kraul before hit the likes of Scarlet Monastery & Razorfen Downs.
Just done 75% of WC (half the group randomly left so I gave up), only have to do it again to complete the quests off. Should be able to catch up within the next few days if I do a few quests too.
I ran Vir on my Pala the other day, and we had a retarded Mage go AFK right up until the first boss (suprise suprise) then left the grp and tried to ninja-wipe us.
If you need me to run you then just say.
Alternatively, group with Vir and do WC/SFK :P

The Paladin's style of play (other than healing) didn't fit me at all. But I do have a lvl 29 Warlock called Fortymanlock and a lvl 47 Hunter called Afkautoshot, and even a mage at lvl 27, so if any of those are needed, I'd be glad to tag along.

Dying you will do, loads of times. Pulling aggro for sure aswell. But everyone knows the mage cannot be hold responsible for this. Just do your thing, pull aggro and die, and then either yell at the warrior or the healer for being noobs :)

We're considering a 20 - 25 man guild of FA core to play casual in WOTLK, since all instances can be done by 10 man groups.
Idea is to balance all the classes and raid like twice or 3 times a week. To get the fun back in raiding and playing with friends.
Another thread was made for this.
I'd really appreciate it if you'd return back, as you're one of oldest core.

Waiting on them letting you trial it for free, no way I'm paying to trial it when all I hear is how it is similar to WoW (and I'm already going to pay for that expansion).
I purchased the digital download version, so will be downloading the open beta early access client on sat as it comes available.
It's bound to have some or maybe even several similarities to WoW, but from what I've seen/heard it has nice improvements and different mechanics which I like the sound of.. whether they play out to be as good as they sound remains to be seen. I'm just so bored of WoW, the game just gives off an eerie stench of stagnation that was too much for me the last time I tried my hand at resuming play, I'd rather give a go at something new and fresh. The whole game just seems more pick-up and play oriented, easily being able to join up with fellow allies in common goals without as much frustration/effort...
as in, no, I don't want to kill the same identical 635 undead trolls in the same identical way for the 653rd time to be rewarded with a chance that something might drop that I will in turn have a chance of getting. =P
One comment I do find quite often is how the story and RvR is more... hardcore I guess, the rivalry between Order and Chaos something that makes the WoW Alliance/Horde rivalry seem like preschool kids shoving each other in a playground turf dispute.
Sorry for intruding on the WoW-related thread with this btw.. but c'mon guys, we all know WoW is dead as a doorknob. Time to jump ship and leave the 6 million 13 year old DeathKnights to spam 'I DPS TANK LF HEALERZ' endlessly at each other. =P

You just might want to try WotLK. From a beta experience, sure enough, the game is still your standard WoW, but what I've seen so far pretty much still beats any other game out there. One big part of why WoW might get boring is, you're still tied to the same story after all those years, and it seems like your character must be an idiot to still go for the same goals that have been opened and closed for an absurd number of times.
But my main counter-argument is: Northrend is awesome ;)

It's also not true to Warhammer at all, so that's one thing they've changed to tailor the game towards the mass market appeal of "Good" versus "Evil".
They'd have been better off just taking the Warhammer Roleplaying Game and making it into an MMO that gave you freedom, so you had all aspects of the Warhammer world rather than just this forced PvP stuff. There are some fantastic areas in the Warhammer world, and they aren't going near most of them even though they've got the upperhand over WoW in that there is far more published material for Warhammer in terms of concept art etc.
Going to be playing Darkfall personally, that at least has some freedom.
Can always boost a group when i am online with Tiger, but atm i am kinda incredibly busy with work/judo/meetings...

Anyways, wouldnt mind a grp to Ulda, or a boost or two. Just had a run where a ret Pala (prob the worst iv ever played with) rolled need on ALL tanking gear, even though he refused to tank at the start... Needless to say I wasn't pleased...
Lvl. 44 now - ZF & Maraudon probably the way to go.
Any1 wanting to join, Twist is starting to play his 45 Retadin, plus I have a few others i've met who like grouping with me, so instances shouldn't be an issue.
I'm in a general gaming hole where I can't be arsed to play anything really :(
I can't see me playing much before the expansion to be honest as I'm only interested now in giving the DK a shot, and even then I'll be playing Darkfall too to try that out as that sounds far more sandbox which is what I prefer really.

same here, only attending some raids of the guild I am in now, otherwise farming some gold.
Feeling kinda the same avie, that and haven't got the time required for the level of accomplishment I want if I did give it a shot.
Might give Darkfall a go once I hear back from you on that and match it up against what I think of WAR, anything fun and fresh will do for me that isn't too time consuming..
and well if all else fails I guess I just might have to lower myself to log back in to world of whinecraft to play with you hood damned bastards =P

I even lost the ambition to grind for gold. Hell, I got over 10k gold on my main and alt combines. And I mean pure gold, not even talking about gems, voids and other expensive stuff :)
My PC has been in the store ever since I returned from holiday ... so that's 4 weeks without wow for me and to be fairly honnest, I haven't missed it a day so far ...
I'm also to busy to play games lately :(
