So with Warhammer Online nearing release (rumor has it 23rd of September) I'm getting pretty psyched (contrary to WoW:WotLK...).

Some big selling points I think thus far on paper are:

1) 2 general factions at war with different races on each side, each race with unique classes (ok everything said so far is a bit WoW-ish) but each class having it's own unique playing style/mechanic/system with specific 'quirks'. Using WoW as an example you could switch between mage, warlock and any other dps caster and not have to adapt much... still using mana and having to stand in place and chain cast spells, WO has some funky rules governing each class which are better read than explained ;)

2) RvR (realm vs. realm) combat, no more panzy redundant PvE instance farming/grinding, killing the same dungeon mobs/bosses over and over and over again. Basically something AoC wanted to do but didn't quite succeed...

3) spells, talents, specialities system much more appealing. no more fireball lvl 1, lvl 2, lvl 3 shit.

Probably a lot more to this, I haven't been able to play the game yet but have seen several clips and read through several articles, quite a few have had a go at the beta thus far though - if so please share your thoughts.

Since FA is going destruction (evuuul faction) there are 10 classes available (after the 4 class cut - 2 per faction). I thought a more specific pole to see what people where interested in playing would help see initial groups we can form and hopefully play in come the Open Beta - and the actual game if it proves itself.

I myself am looking to try my hand at a Chaos Chosen (Tank class), but willing to try anything depending on others and what we are missing to make some balanced groups =) (all the classes are so quirky and unique its hard to choose though)!

IF i was to play it, i'd play a Chosen Tank. Mainly it's for the looks.

it's WAR not WO :<

But on to the point:

You don't use mana as in wow. You have Action Points (much as the rogues' energy bar) and your spells/abilities cost AP, but it will regenerate quite quick as of what I've heard.

Morale Abilities: You have 4 morale ranks, and while you fight a morale bar increases if you hurt your enemy/kill the enemy/do other stuff I'm not certain about :P.
These morale abilities are very strong, especially the 4th rank, though you can't use it that often. (e.g. The shaman had one Mass Ressurection) Imagine how this would work in a castle siege. Your team is losing and all but the shaman dead, but inflicted heavy damage on the enemy. And BANG you're all back alive because of the morale ability (probably won't work exactly like this, but it's said it can turn the tide of a battle).

Tactics: Each player has 3 or 4 tactics he can use (can't remember exactly how many). They give passive bonuses to stats or other things that can help you in RVR or PvE.

Tome of Knowledge:
WoW tried to copy it with WotLK with the achievment system, but it didn't quite succeed. Because the ToK is much more than that, it tracks your whole life in the game! Everything is tracked, from how many people you killed, to the lore of the Warhammer IP.

Persoanlly I'd choose, as I mentioned in the other poll, a Chaos Chosen - for the looks and awesomeness. (+the beta leaks seem to indicate he's kinda capable :>) But I can choose something else if we already have 2, since I love all the classes :X

I'll be a sorceress for sure. I haven't read much about the game yet, but this class is mainly an AoE class (if you use the destruction spec) and that is style that fits me the most ... standing in the back aoe'ing everyone and running away when getting hit :D

Watch out, if you AOE too much, you're gonna blow up :))
EDIT: Seriously.

Omg, a class that can kill itself? They finally created the perfect char for me :D

Killing yourself isn't just limited to AOE.

Sorcesses have spells which use dark magic. Every dark magic spell is slighty better than normal spells for instance 1sec nuke or aoe ect, but each time you use them you gather dark magic. Dark magic does 2 things

1. Increases your crit rate.
2. If a spell misfires which is more and more likely the more dark magic you have it does damage to you based on how much dark magic you have. So you can easily blowe your own head off kj

I think I'm gonna play a marauder, I might lvl another class to, if reaching the lvl 40 won't take too long.

The game looks promising, cool classes and a lot of small details that make the game more interesting. The only thing that concerns me is that there might be an unstable faction balance due to the fact that destruction looks so much cooler than order.

There are apparently buffs and stuff like extra XP when levelling and other stuff that underpopulated faction gets.

Wohoo! the forum works again for me :p Anyhoo: News from the front: The game is ok, but it sincerely needs more work. There seem to be a lot of pathing problems and "target not reachable" errors. The combat seems to lag a bit too... Otherwise, the game is great. I've been playing for around 6 hours with a dwarf ironbreaker and it was wonderful! One of your first missions is to kill stuff with a cannon :D how cool is that ? :P The PQ's are great too. You usually have 3 stages, in which the mobs are getting stronger and stronger and in the final stage you get to fight the boss. It's fun, easy, fast (if you have like 3-4 members) and you get easy/good loot. And I spent almost 50% of my time in a warband (like a raid in wow) roaming the lands of Erkund hunting other players. Oh, and collision detection is great btw! One stupid DoK got a way from me because an orc jumped right into me while I was just about to root him, thus denying me the opportunity to catch him. All in all, if they fix the bugs that are still in atm, and GOA wakes up and starts offering better services, then we'll have a hit with this game. Edit: it seems I can't format the text here ... so sorry for the Wall of text :|

Sounds like AoC all over again then :)
