View Full Version : Spoliers: What WotLK changes intrigue you the most?

Can be any of the specific class changes, or just the general game mechanics that you have seen.

Personally, I have a few that (if released Live) would change the way the game is played big time.

1) Crushing Blows removed

Word has it that Crushing Blows are being removed in the expansion. So, what will this do for Prot Warriors who thrive at tanking these boss situations? Well, hopefully it will address issues of tank shortages in raids as now Druids can step up to the plate.

2) Imp. Survival of the Fittest (Druid talent)

Druids needed 415 +defence (or 2.61%> reduction to being crit) to become crit immune with the current SotF (which reduces crit chance by 3%).

Now though, if my calcs are correct - Ferlols would need only their BASE defence of 350 (if SotF is to be 6% reduction). This is a massive change, as it means bears can then gem/enchant for +stam & +agility more so than normal.

3) Threat and it's effects being altered

Changes yet to be seen/calculated, but it could turn out that tanks obtain greater threat making abilities - or that other classes need to do a lot more threat than they currently do to gain aggro.

4) Shaman totem changes

The shaman totems are being revamped (at long last). Some totems are having their effect changed/altered, whilst others are being merged to make the use of totems a lot more straight forward.

# Stoneskin now increases defence, rather than reducing physical damage (awesome)
# Windfury now increases melee haste by 20% (meh?!)
# Wrath of Air now grants 10% spell haste (okay, only once you've read the next change..)
# Flametongue now grants +spell dmg (good)
# Grace of Air is being merged with Strength of Earth (also good, although they may nerf the +str & +agil to compensate)
# Grace of Air removed (changes to come for threat)

5) Paladin (& Hunter?) Auras and Shaman Totems are now raid-wide

Big change. Why take more than 3 shamans/paladins from now on? Having Concentration/Devotion/Retribution Aura on all raid members, plus Mana spring/Healing Stream/Wrath of Air/Windfury/Strength of Earth/Stoneskin/Flametongue totems affecting everyone - this should make things a lot easier!

Yes, the benefit of Haste MIGHT improve dps as it affects offhands too, but until it's tested - wouldn't the chance of WF procs be better? I don't know...

Anyway, add 20% haste with the New Strength of Earth totem (with added +agil) and you will have far improved dps for sure.

What I am going to find funny, is a Shaman with Windfury on both weps, added to the above totems. Their dps could be insane!

20% haste increase = 20% unbuffed white damage increase ---> very big deal for a Rogue.

Windfury as it is atm is decent enough for combat Rogues, but nothing awesome. Haste, on the other hand, is awesome.

Combine that with Slice'n'Dice and Mongoose (or any other haste enchant coming in WotLK) and Blade Flurry and we're attacking many times a second with a slow weapon. Ouch.
