He has 36 WoW accounts, plays them all at once, and pays almost 6 grand a year for them:wanker:

Seen someone pre-TBC with a similar thing, using 4 PCs with 10 accounts on each to effectively solo MC with, and in TBC the same guy does his own arena teams by multiboxing.
Big article on the guy in the Norwegian IT-newssite "ITAvisen" a few days ago.
That's not commitment, that's an addiction. Seriously needs to get out more...

When you "buy" a hooker, it's for a limited amount of time. You normally don't buy hookers for life. Buying for a limited amount of time is called renting.

but in the example you've provided above the center fielder's professional career belongs to the yankees until the contract is voided or he is sold.
The contract is for a length of time.
You are buying a length of time from the hooker. How many times have you had a hooker come up to you and be like "do you want to rent me?", I've never had it happen to me.

theres plenty of hobbies that cost more than $6k/year, and theres always someone out there that takes things to an extreme, why should gaming be left out of that?

Because there's less chance that the hobby will get them killed than in many other cases
Having a one to even a couple wow accounts or any mmo game, is a hobby. Spending thousands a year on online gaming is more than a hobby, it's a life style.
This guy plays by himself, and in wow, it takes a week if you play non stop to cap a char, that's 36 weeks for him(maybe less since he plays them all at once). Either way, he is devoting his life to it, that's not a hobby.
I had a couple of accounts in Neocron and that was still a hobby even if it did take up most of my free time :P

If that guy wants to go nuts like that, I say, let him. If it makes him happy, go for it. Doubtless after a while he'll realize it may not be too wholesome for him, and he'll move on to other things.
In any case it's certainly an interesting (albeit extreme) way to pursue a hobby.

You laugh with several pple on this forum, telling them they are geeks and that it's a waste of time to spend your time on gaming while you could go outside and enjoy yourself.
Then on the other hand you now "defend" this guy who has 36 accounts and you tell us that we cannot judge him for what he does, and that it's ok aslong as he enjoys himself.
So doing it and then blaming others for doing it, is what I can being a hypocrit, that's all.
