I just hope Barack Obama does not lose because of racism. I'm fine with people voting for McCain because they think he's better qualified and would make a better president, unfortunately though, many people will vote for McCain just because they don't want a black president.
But the jokes on them, because the majority of racists are middle/lower class and they're going to get screwed by McCain if he's elected.

Conspiracy or no, you can be very sure that everyone will be doing their utmost to squeeze out every little cheat they can find and get away with, without being caught. If you watch some of the documentaries that are flying about the place, especially those concerned with how much you can actually cheat in the US electoral system, you won't be surprised if McCain still somehow wins. There are so many ways in which a ballot can be declared as one that shall not count.
There is also the mention of how, even in anonymous polls, many people say they're gonna vote for Obama, because they don't want to appear racist. Yes, it's true, and extremely silly.

Works at both ends of the scale then, people who ARE racist and people who are absolutely scared of being seen as one.
It's pretty ludacris how a lot of Americans seem to base their votes not on reason or logic, but racial (dis)identification.
Still, how to prevent any kind of voting fraud, it's still based on trust in the democratic system, even if you vote on paper ballots, how can anyone be sure those arent miscounted on purpose or tampered with. Computers just make it worse, the only thing i can think of to prevent it from happening as much as possible is to create open source software, get the checksums of a non-biased voting software system, then seal all machines, and after have a party of independent specialists unseal the machines and check whether the software differentiates in any bit, if so revote on paper with strict control.

tbh, tie all votes in with social security number, fine everybody who doesn't vote, and then reissue paperwork stating who you voted for to each person who did vote with a unique identification number on each form before the votes are validated...
There are thousands of locations to vote. Millions of people voting. Millions of people with their own views about who should win. Millions(billions) of dollars to be made, and you only get it if your party wins.
I'll only cry if McCain wins. Palin is so fucking stupid, I swear, if she becomes vice president. If I was McCain, I'd pick a new vice president for the sake of the country. I can't even listen to her talk.

yes but 100% validation with no tampering is always gonna cause an excessive workload... it causes lots of paperwork, but makes sure that the winner is the actual winner :)
